Tangent lets you list the sites and services that need to leave through a specific WAN instead of the bonded connection, so the bank, the card terminal and the geo-locked app all work, and everything else stays bonded.
Bonding is the right way to get a reliable connection out of several unreliable ones. But some services see the bonded connection’s exit point as “a VPN” and refuse to play: online banking that locks you out, a card terminal that won’t authorise, a streaming service that says you’re in the wrong country, a supplier portal that only accepts your site’s fixed IP. Until now the fix was to take that device off the bond entirely, and lose the resilience for everything it does.
What Tangent Does
Think of the bond as the motorway. Tangent adds the off-ramps.
You write a rule: a name, the destinations (IP addresses, networks or domain names), and the WAN they should leave on. Tangent does the rest: traffic to those destinations exits the router on that WAN with that WAN’s own public IP, while everything not in a rule stays on the bonded tunnel exactly as before. Rules apply to every device behind the router, with nothing to configure on the devices themselves.
Domains, not just IPs
Add bbc.co.uk or yourbank.co.uk and Tangent learns the addresses as your devices look them up, including CDN addresses that change from one visit to the next. Subdomains are covered automatically.
Choose the exit, and the backup
Each rule names its WAN (fibre, 4G/5G, a second line) and an ordered list of fallbacks if that WAN goes down. If every listed WAN is down you decide: back to the tunnel, or block.
Sees what’s happening
The rules table shows where each rule’s traffic is going right now; a live view shows the addresses learned, packet and byte counts and DNS activity, so “is it working?” is a glance rather than a support call.

Tested where it matters.
We built Tangent for our own hosted-Bondix customers and tested it on our RUTX50 test bench with the Bondix client and bonding proxy running. IP rules, domain rules, failover between fibre and 4G, block mode, reboots, firewall and Bondix restarts have all been verified on hardware.
With a rule for the BBC on the site’s fibre line, iPlayer’s UK check passes; disable the rule and it reports “not available in your region” again.

Compatibility
Works with the Teltonika routers you already run.
Tangent is a Teltonika-only plugin for RutOS 7.24 and later, running alongside the Bondix client on the RUTX, RUTC and RUTM families. It uses only what the router already has (no extra packages, no kernel modules, no changes to your Bondix configuration) and each RutOS point release gets a matching Tangent build. Bondix on other hardware, including our Universal Client, is not supported yet.
Supported routers
Tangent is available for the Teltonika RUTX, RUTC and RUTM families, with builds for new models and RutOS releases added weekly. The router’s Package Manager only accepts a build made for its own model and firmware, so if there isn’t a build for yours yet, Tangent won’t install. Tell us your model and we’ll let you know when it’s coming.

Requirements
- A supported Teltonika router on RutOS 7.24+ with the Bondix client installed.
- A second WAN (fibre, DSL, 4G/5G or another line) to break out onto.
- Devices resolving DNS through the router for domain rules (IP rules work regardless). Devices using DNS-over-HTTPS bypass domain rules; Tangent’s DNS hijack option forces plain DNS through the router if you need it.

Tangent FAQ
No. Tangent sits alongside the Bondix client and only steers the traffic you list. Remove Tangent and the router behaves exactly as before.
Yes, that was one of the first things we had to get right. Traffic in a rule is exempted from the proxy so it can leave on the chosen WAN.
The rule fails over to the next WAN you listed. If none of them is up, you choose per rule whether that traffic goes back through the tunnel or is blocked until a WAN returns.
It catches every subdomain of the domains you list. Larger services spread across several domains (a bank’s login, its fraud-check host, its 3-D Secure provider) and the live view shows you which names are being looked up so you can add them.
Not yet. Tangent is built on RutOS and installs through Teltonika’s Package Manager, which only accepts builds made for the router’s own model and firmware.
