Tangent roadmap and release notes

This page is where we say what Tangent does today, which routers it runs on, and what we’re working on. We only list a feature as shipped when it has been tested on real hardware, and we only list a router as supported when a build exists for it. Anything beyond “Now” is direction, not a promise. Dates move, and we’d rather tell you that than invent them. If your router or the service you need isn’t here, tell us. Requests are how we decide what comes next.

Current version: 0.2.4 Last updated: 10 September 2026

Supported routers

Tangent runs on Teltonika routers with RutOS 7.24 or later and the Bondix client installed. Teltonika builds one firmware image per router family, so support is by family; every model in a supported family runs the same build. We publish a build for each RutOS point release.

  • TestedFull end-to-end test run on this hardware
  • Firmware-verifiedEvery dependency verified against the family firmware image; build installs; not yet run on a physical unit
  • PlannedOn the list, not yet verified
  • Not supportedThe platform cannot run Tangent

Where Tangent is going

Now

shipping / in progress

  • Licensing and 7-day trial through the SimpliWiFi platform (live)
  • Buy with your serial number, or redeem a key on the router (live / in progress)
  • Hardware verification across the RUTM, RUT2, OTD5 and ATRM families
  • Presets: ready-made destination lists for common services (BBC iPlayer, UK banks, card terminal providers) so you pick a name instead of working out the domains

Under consideration

tell us if you need it

  • Tangent for OpenWrt-based routers running the Bondix Universal Client (GL.iNet Flint 2 and similar)
  • MikroTik (RouterOS): a different implementation; investigating whether demand justifies it
  • IPv6 destinations
  • Per-rule bandwidth and connection statistics over time
  • Reseller / MSP volume licensing and fleet view in the portal

Release notes

Newest first. Each entry lists the RutOS builds it was published for. Your router shows its installed version under Network → Tangent → About.

0.2.4

10 September 2026 RutOS 07.24.3 RUTX

First customer-facing build.

  • Licensing through the SimpliWiFi platform: 7-day trial on first install, activation by serial number at checkout or by licence key on the router, daily licence check-in.
  • Licence status and trial countdown shown at the top of the Tangent page; clear message and store link when a licence is needed.
  • Breakout rules by IP address, network or domain name, with a chosen exit WAN, ordered fallbacks and a per-rule choice of tunnel-or-block when every WAN is down.
  • Enable/disable a rule with one toggle — applies immediately, no Save & Apply needed.
  • Live status: current exit per rule, addresses learned, packet and byte counters, DNS forwarder statistics.
  • Works alongside the Bondix bonding proxy; rules re-assert automatically after firewall reloads and Bondix restarts.
  • Settings and rules survive plugin upgrades and router firmware upgrades.

0.1 series

September 2026 (internal)

Development builds used to prove installation through the Package Manager, IP and domain breakout, failover and Bondix proxy coexistence on the RUTX50. Not released to customers.
